María José Chica was born in Bogotá, 1986. In 2009 she finished her studies in plastic arts in the Universidad Nacional of Colombia. In 2006, she went in an exchange program with the fine arts faculty of Barcelona. Subsequently, she coursed her postgraduate degree entering an (MFA) Master in Fine Arts in London in the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design from 2011 till 2013. In 2016, she participated as an artist resident in Arteles Creative Center, Finland. Her artwork, that explores painting from its formal aspects as well as it's concept, has been exhibited in many individual and collective expositions in Bogotá, Londres and Chile.
