Camilo Leyva lives and works in Bogotá. He graduated from La Universidad de los Andes with a BA in Fine Art, and an MFA from Parsons the New School for Design. He teaches at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano and as a researcher arts and human rights projects: Oropéndola Arte y Conflicto and the Dimensión Virtual from the Museo Nacional de Memoria. Leyva has shown installations and sculptures that explore how a semiotic structure can be articulated from the conventions of matter. Leyva wants to understand the process of communication in art, which is why he proposes a collective construction of meaning through his work, which is currently relational. He has shown his work in solo and group shows in the Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá (La promesa de la desorganización) as well as Espacio Odeón (Máquina) where he developed a site-specific project; he is also a member of several collectives.
